Ministry launches investigation into 'violence at nursing home'

In a statement made by the Ministry of Family and Social Services, it was said, "The necessary process regarding the facility will be carried out according to the results of the administrative investigation initiated by our Ministry. We will also closely follow the legal process initiated regarding the personnel who was arrested after being taken into custody by police units."

The statement noted that it was deemed necessary to make a statement regarding reports in some media outlets that personnel working at a private nursing home in Istanbul had committed violence against the elderly.

The statement, which conveyed that teams affiliated with the Provincial Directorate immediately went to the center to conduct investigations following the incident in question, recorded the following:

"A judicial and administrative investigation has been initiated regarding the incident, and the employment contract of the personnel involved in the incident, M.Ş.Ö., has been terminated by the facility. Health examinations of the nursing home residents who were victims of the incident were conducted after their statements were taken.

The necessary process regarding the facility will be carried out according to the results of the administrative investigation initiated by our Ministry. We will also closely follow the legal process initiated regarding the personnel who was arrested after being taken into custody by police units. Respectfully announced to the public."
