Ministry of Interior launches investigation into police intervention during İmamoğlu protests

The police violence applied to citizens during protests held across the country, which began with the detention of IMM Mayor and CHP Presidential Candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu and continued with his arrest, is on the agenda.

T24 columnist Tolga Şardan wrote in his article today that the Ministry of Interior has assigned inspectors to investigate and examine the police's method of intervention against citizens during protests in major cities, primarily Istanbul and Ankara, as well as Izmir, Bursa, and Eskişehir.

Within the framework of investigating the events, some specific reports and complaints, particularly regarding detention and custody procedures, have also been taken under review.

In his report, Şardan included the following statement: "For example, an inspector was assigned to uncover the truth behind a female suspect's statement, who claimed, 'A male police officer touched my breasts, and I wet myself at that moment.'"
