Statement from the Ministry of Interior on appointed trustees

A total of 253 suspects who participated in protest demonstrations following the appointment of trustees to the DEM Party-run municipalities of Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti have been detained.

The Ministry of Interior reported that 33 people have been arrested.

The statement from the Ministry is as follows:

"A total of 253 suspects were apprehended for participating in illegal demonstrations, throwing stones at security forces, and engaging in physical assaults, with 226 of them facing terror-related charges and 27 facing security-related charges.

Among the suspects apprehended by the Provincial Police Departments' Counter-Terrorism (TEM) and Security Branches, and against whom investigations were initiated by judicial authorities for crimes including Membership in an Armed Terrorist Organization, Making Propaganda for a Terrorist Organization, Violation of Law No. 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations, and Resisting a Public Officer; 33 have been arrested."

Judicial control measures were imposed on 37 individuals, and house arrest was ordered for 3. Processing for the others is ongoing."
