Ministry of National Defense announces: 1 soldier martyred in Somalia
The Ministry of National Defense announced that Specialist Sergeant Seydi Ünlü, serving at the Somali Turkish Task Force Command (STGK), suffered a heart attack yesterday (July 30, 2024) and could not be saved despite all interventions, resulting in his martyrdom.
According to the statement made by the Ministry of National Defense, 1 soldier serving at the STGK has been martyred.
The statement included the following:
"Our heroic comrade-in-arms, Specialist Sergeant Seydi Ünlü, serving at the Somali Turkish Task Force Command (STGK), suffered a heart attack on July 30, 2024, was immediately transferred to the hospital, and could not be saved despite all interventions, resulting in his martyrdom."
THE MANDATE HAD BEEN EXTENDED
Within the framework of the defense cooperation agreement between Turkey and Somalia, the Presidential mandate regarding the deployment of Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) elements in the country for a period of 2 years to support activities ensuring Somalia's security against terrorism and other threats had been accepted in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly.
