Ministry of National Defense announces sad news: 1 soldier martyred
The Ministry of National Defense announced that Specialist Sergeant Önder Özen, who was wounded in the Claw Operation region in northern Iraq, has been martyred.
The Ministry of National Defense (MSB) reported that Combat Engineer Specialist Sergeant Önder Özen, who was wounded during search and clearance activities in the Claw (Hakurk) Operation region in northern Iraq, has been martyred at the hospital where he was receiving treatment.
The following was stated in the announcement made by the MSB:
"Our heroic comrade-in-arms, Combat Engineer Specialist Sergeant Önder Özen, who was wounded as a result of stepping on a mine/IED during search and clearance activities in the Claw (Hakurk) Operation region in northern Iraq, was immediately taken to the hospital but could not be saved despite all interventions and was martyred on May 3. We wish God's mercy upon our dear martyr, who has plunged us into deep pain and sorrow, and we extend our condolences and patience to his grieving family, the Turkish Armed Forces, and our noble nation."
CONDOLENCE MESSAGE FROM MINISTER GÜLER
Meanwhile, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler also published a condolence message for the martyred Specialist Sergeant Özen.
In his message, Minister Güler stated, "Our heroic comrade-in-arms was martyred on May 3, 2025. On my own behalf and on behalf of the members of the Ministry of National Defense, I wish God's mercy upon our heroic martyr and extend my condolences and patience to his grieving family and our noble nation."
