Ministry of National Education: BTK granted 'edu.tr' extension to fake university
Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin responded 45 days later to a parliamentary question from CHP's Deniz Demir regarding the fake Yeni Pazar University and its fake rector. The response revealed that the 'edu.tr' extension was granted by the BTK and was used to defraud young people dreaming of a university education. The Ministry of National Education has written to the BTK requesting that access to the fake university's website be blocked.
CHP Ankara MP Deniz Demir had asked Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin about the fake Yeni Pazar University and its fake rector, Ali İlseven. Minister Tekin responded to the CHP member's parliamentary question 45 days later.
The response from the Ministry of National Education (MEB) also provided the answer to the question that led to the defrauding of thousands of young people dreaming of a university education.
It emerged that the 'edu.tr' extension, which can only be used by higher education institutions approved by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), was granted by the BTK (Information and Communication Technologies Authority) to the so-called Yeni Pazar University, which does not exist in reality and distributes fake diplomas for money.
In its response, the YÖK Department of Recognition and Equivalency Services stated: “The institution that grants the edu.tr extension is the Information and Communication Technologies Authority. The conditions under which the edu.tr extension is granted should be asked to the BTK.”
Stating that “it is understood that the individuals involved acted with the intent to deceive citizens of the Republic of Turkey,” the Ministry of National Education wrote to the BTK requesting that access to the address www.yenipazar.edu.tr be blocked.
CHP's Demir will now submit a new parliamentary question to be answered by Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, to whom the BTK reports.
HOW DID THE BTK GRANT THIS EXTENSION?
CHP's Demir said, “Once it becomes clear how the BTK, which imposes access bans on the internet and social media at every opportunity, granted this extension to a fake diploma gang, we will file a criminal complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office.”
TRANSLATION ERROR BENEFITS GANGS
Communication academic Assoc. Prof. Dr. Osman Vedüd Eşidir stated that a vital error is being made regarding the fake university. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eşidir said, “In its investigations, the Ministry of National Education confuses the fake Yeni Pazar University with the actually existing Novi Pazar University. Novi Pazar University cannot be translated into Turkish as 'Yeni Pazar University,' but for some reason, this simple error is made in official correspondence. Diploma gangs are taking advantage of this error. Because the fake Yeni Pazar University is imitating the Novi Pazar University in Serbia.”
