Ministry of Sports also flagged by Court of Accounts: Ticket revenue share from stadiums has not been collected since 2019
A Court of Accounts report has revealed that the Ministry of Sports has failed to collect the ticket sales share it is entitled to from football matches held in stadiums under its ownership since 2019. It was also noted that damages caused by visiting teams could not be recovered from the clubs.
According to the 2023 report by the Court of Accounts, the Ministry of Sports has been unable to collect the 7 percent ticket sales share it is entitled to from football matches held in stadiums under its ownership since 2019.
The report revealed that the ministry collects revenue data that it should be receiving from clubs on a weekly basis only at the end of the year in some locations. While it was stated that this situation has caused a loss of income for the ministry, the amount not collected from ticket revenues was not shared in the latest report.
DAMAGES BY VISITING TEAMS NOT RECOVERED FROM CLUBS
According to the report by T24, another noteworthy issue in the report was that damages caused to stadiums by visiting teams could not be recovered from the clubs. It was stated that these damages were covered by the budgets of provincial sports directorates.
It was emphasized that in provinces such as Adana, Eskişehir, İzmir, and Kocaeli in particular, grass maintenance services that should be covered by the clubs were also being performed by the provincial directorates.

MISSING DATA IN MINISTRY REPORT
Pointing out that the amount of the share the ministry could not collect from match tickets was shared in detail in previous Court of Accounts reports, it was noted that this information was absent from this year's report.
While it was emphasized that the ministry should track revenue more regularly, it was also stated that financial responsibilities regarding the maintenance and repair of stadiums should be assumed by the clubs.
