Ministry of Trade orders recall of 4 mobile phone models
The Ministry of Trade has announced that 4 mobile phone models and 1 wireless speaker, which were found to pose safety risks following technical inspections by the BTK, will be recalled from the market. Citizens will have the right to return or exchange these products.
The Ministry of Trade has shared new products deemed risky for human health with the public via the "Unsafe Product Information System (GÜBİS)." According to the statement, four different mobile phone models from the Reeder, Dijitsu, and Hiking brands, as well as a wireless speaker from the Mercusys brand, failed safety tests. It has been decided that these products will be recalled from the market.
THEY FAILED TO MEET SAFETY STANDARDS
As a result of technical inspections conducted by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK), it was determined that certain electronic devices did not comply with safety standards. Following this development, the Ministry of Trade issued a recall decision for 5 different products. The products to be withdrawn from the market are as follows:
Reeder brand "S19 Max Pro S Zoom" mobile phone
Dijitsu brand "DCT 90" mobile phone
Hiking brand "X11" and "X9" mobile phone models
Mercusys brand "AC 1200" model wireless speaker
TECHNICAL DEFICIENCIES AND HEALTH RISKS
In its statement, the Ministry reported that the products did not meet the safety and technical adequacy requirements specified in Article 5 of the Radio Equipment Regulation. The main factors violating safety standards are as follows:
Electromagnetic incompatibility: Interaction causing interference with other devices
Inefficient use of radio spectrum: Irregular and inefficient use of frequencies
Insufficient safety measures: Elements threatening human health, pets, and property safety
Incompatibility with chargers: Failure to work properly with commonly used chargers
Issues with EU connection interfaces: Incompatibility with European Union standard connection systems
RIGHT TO RETURN AND EXCHANGE GRANTED
The Ministry of Trade also reminded citizens of their consumer rights to ensure that those who own these products do not suffer any grievances. Those who own the devices subject to the recall decision can apply to the point of purchase to:
Return the product and receive a refund,
Exchange the product for another item.
It will be sufficient for citizens to present documents related to the purchase, such as the invoice and warranty certificate, when exercising these rights.
INSPECTIONS WILL CONTINUE
The Ministry stated that all products on the market are inspected regularly and that similar practices regarding products that pose risks to public health and safety will continue.
