In a statement made by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, it was stated, "The 190-meter-long San Marino-flagged bulk carrier named PILATUS MARINE, traveling from Syria to Russia, has run aground due to a mechanical failure at the Nara turn in the Dardanelles Strait.

Following the incident, the KURTARMA-19 and KURTARMA-16 tugboats belonging to our General Directorate of Coastal Safety reached the ship rapidly.

Our divers have taken action to dive and determine the condition of the ship, and subsequently, damage assessment and rescue operations will be carried out.

Due to this incident, vessel traffic in the Dardanelles Strait has been temporarily suspended in both directions," the statement read.
