Missing for five days: Body found in Sakarya River
A male body has been found in the river in the Geyve district of Sakarya.
Following a report that a person was motionless on the surface of the Sakarya River in the Kızılkaya neighborhood of Sakarya's Geyve district, gendarmerie and AFAD teams were dispatched to the scene.
The person, who was recovered from the water by the teams and determined to have lost his life, was identified as 68-year-old Recep Demir.
Demir's body was taken to the autopsy center at the Sakarya Training and Research Hospital's Korucuk Campus following an examination at the scene.
The gendarmerie teams, who launched an investigation into the incident, discovered that there had been no word from Recep Demir and his 29-year-old son, Tevfik Can Demir, since October 16.
It was learned that the family had not filed a missing persons report for the father and son and that they had debts.
Meanwhile, a search operation has been launched in and around the river for Tevfik Can Demir.
