Mistreatment of activist Greta Thunberg detained by Israel: 'They made her kiss the flag'

Activists who set out to deliver aid to Gaza but were detained by Israeli soldiers have recounted their experiences. It was alleged that an Israeli flag was forcibly placed in the hands of activist Greta Thunberg. One of the activists, Ayçin Kantoğlu, explained that Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir came to see them that same evening, stating the following:

"He came with journalists and tried to give a statement. As far as I could understand, he said things like, 'These people have no pity for the children of Jerusalem.' We protested Ben-Gvir by saying, 'Shut your big mouth, you genocidal scum.'

We were kept 15 people in 5-person cells. There were writings on the walls written in blood; we read them all. We saw that mothers had written their children's names on the walls of the cells.

In a way, we experienced a little bit of what Palestinians have been living through. They didn't give us clean water, they told us to drink water from the toilets, and we didn't receive food for nearly 40 hours."

ALLEGATIONS OF MISTREATMENT OF GRETA

Kantoğlu claimed that there were witnesses who saw Israeli soldiers hitting climate activist Greta Thunberg, who was detained along with them, and that Thunberg was made to walk with her hands tied behind her back with an Israeli flag.

Ersin Çelik said, "They subjected Greta to very severe torture right before our eyes. They persecuted Greta; Greta is still just a little child. They dragged her and made her kiss the Israeli flag."
