MIT Chief Kalın holds summit in Damascus! Agenda: PKK laying down arms
National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Chief İbrahim Kalın traveled to Syria and held a critical meeting with President Ahmed Shara, Foreign Minister Assad Hassan al-Shaibani, and Intelligence Chief Hussein al-Salameh. The meeting covered several topics, ranging from border security and the refugee crisis to the fight against the PKK/YPG and Syria's political future.

According to information obtained from security sources, Kalın met with Syrian President Shara, Foreign Minister al-Shaibani, and Intelligence Chief al-Salameh in Syria yesterday.

During the meeting, which addressed bilateral relations between Turkey and Syria, the importance of Syria's territorial integrity, sovereignty, and political stability was emphasized, and it was reaffirmed that Turkey will always stand by Syria.
The meeting addressed issues such as the terrorist organization PKK/YPG laying down its arms and integrating into the new Syria, like other groups; border security and customs gates; and the transfer of prisons and camps housing ISIS members to the administration. It was stated that Turkey is ready to provide all kinds of support needed by the Damascus administration.
Within the scope of regional developments, the meeting also discussed Israel's attacks and airspace violations against Syria, the lifting of all sanctions against Syria, the fight against ISIS, and the voluntary and safe return of Syrian refugees to their country.
