MIT Chief Kalın meets with Syrian Interim President Shara
National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Chief İbrahim Kalın was received by President Ahmed Shara in Damascus, the capital of Syria, where he traveled for official talks.
According to information obtained from security sources, bilateral and regional security issues were discussed during the meeting between Kalın and Shara.
During the meeting, where the importance of Syria's territorial integrity, sovereignty, political stability, and social peace was underscored, it was once again emphasized that Turkey will always stand by Syria.
The meeting also touched upon the struggle of Syria's new government against internal and external threats, and it was stated that Turkey is ready to provide all kinds of support needed by the Damascus administration.
In the meeting, where the fight against the terrorist organization ISIS was also discussed, issues regarding the development of institutional capacity in Syria, border security and customs gates, the improvement of economic conditions, and the voluntary and safe return of Syrian refugees to their country were also addressed.
