MKE denies claims that Çankırı Weapons Factory will be closed
In a statement issued by the Machinery and Chemical Industry (MKE), it was stated that the claims regarding the closure of the Çankırı Weapons Factory do not reflect the truth.
In a statement issued by MKE,itwas noted that, "Our factory, which began operations in 1976 as the MKE Anti-Aircraft Gun Factory,currently continues to serve under the name MKE Çankırı Weapons Factory.Since 1976,
it has been servingcontinuously to this day in a manner thatthe Turkish ArmedForces, primarily, as well as our security forces and friendly and allied nations, with NATO standardsin production continues. In our factoryas of January 3, 2026, a total of 347 active personnel are currently employed.
Our factory is actively producing our country's highly critical medium andheavy weapon systems. These include the105 mm Air-Portable Light Towed Howitzer BORAN, 35 mm KORKUT and GÖKDENİZ Anti-aircraft guns.the Weapon Systems, 40 mm Revolver Grenade Launcher, 12.7 mm Anti-aircraft Gun, the 25 mm ILGAZ Automatic Cannon, 107 mm Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS), and the main components of the 155 mm FIRTINA and PANTER Howitzer Weapon Systems," it was stated.
MKE Çankırı Weapons Factory closure claims do not reflect the truth, the statement noted, "The first howclassexport, the BORAN Howitzer, is produced at the MKE Çankırı Weapons Factory and was exported to Bangladesh in 2024.In 2025, the first howitzerexport in our Republic's history to Europe was realized.export success has beenachieved and theexport success of theBORAN Howitzer toNorth Macedonia has beensuccessfully realized.
MKE ÇankırıOur Çankırı Weapons Factory, with its 50 years of uninterrupted production capability and advanced engineering experience, not only produces highly critical and strategic weapon systems for our countrybut also contributes to our country's defense industry exports.Contrary to the claims, MKE has not closedour Çankırı Weapons Factory, and it iscontinuously developing through investments.is being developed; approximately 150 million liras were invested in 2025, and an investment of approximately 1 billion liras is planned for 2026. The closure or shutting down of our factory is nota matterof discussion. It continues its production with determinationand is increasing its production capacities every passing year with the investments madeit was stated.
