Mollaveisoğlu reacts to Fatih Altaylı's detention: Just like what was done to Sedef Kabaş...
Journalist Tuncay Mollaveisoğlu reacted to the detention of his colleague Fatih Altaylı, stating that the process bears similarities to the 'arrest of Sedef Kabaş' in the past. In a statement made via social media, Mollaveisoğlu emphasized that the 'insult and threat charges' directed at Altaylı were baseless.
Tuncay Mollaveisoğlu stated, “The accusation made against Fatih Altaylı resembles the accusation once made against dear Sedef Kabaş…
Sedef had made a reference to a proverb and was arrested for insulting the President,” he said, referring to Kabaş’s legal process.
Arguing that Altaylı’s statements were distorted, Mollaveisoğlu said, “Fatih Altaylı was actually trying to draw a voter-public profile by reminding us of a historical fact that we all know well. The subject has nothing to do with President Erdoğan.”
In his statement, Mollaveisoğlu also addressed the prosecutors, saying, “The relevant prosecutor’s office should see this clear truth, and Fatih Altaylı should be released.”
While the detention of Fatih Altaylı has caused a wide stir in public opinion, journalists and press freedom advocates continue to react to the incident.
