The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that an ex officio investigation was launched on the grounds that the posts, videos, and photo content shared on the Instagram account with the handle "fidannatalay" constitute the crime of "obscenity" as defined in Article 226 of the Turkish Penal Code.
The statement noted that Atalay's generation of income through this method is also being evaluated under the scope of the crime of "laundering assets derived from crime," as stipulated in Article 282 of the Turkish Penal Code.
It was noted that investigation procedures are ongoing regarding Atalay, who was detained in accordance with the request of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Atalay's social media income has also been placed under scrutiny as part of the investigation.
It was stated that Atalay, who reportedly has 701 thousand followers on Instagram, has more than 12 thousand 100 paid subscribers.
According to calculations based on the monthly subscription fee of 79.99 TL, it was learned that Atalay earns approximately 1 million TL per month from Instagram subscriptions alone.
It was reported that Atalay's bank accounts are also being examined.
