Mother of figure blamed for armed clashes in Turkey captured: Sweden's major mafia boss 'Kurdish Fox'

A new development has occurred regarding Rawa Majid, known in Sweden as the 'Kurdish Fox'.

According to a report by Rûdaw, a high-ranking security official in Sulaymaniyah stated, "This person (Rawa Majid's mother) was arrested on charges of harboring a suspect in accordance with Article 273 of the Iraqi Penal Code."

The article of the Penal Code under which Rawa's mother was arrested includes various types of penalties; the relevant judge will decide which penalty will be imposed in this matter. There is a possibility that the defendant will be punished with imprisonment or a fine. The prison sentence will not exceed 7 years.

Previously, Swedish media reported that Rawa Majid, who leads the group called "Foxtrot" and is known in the country as the "Kurdish Fox," had been arrested on the Iranian border.

WAVE OF VIOLENCE SPREADING IN SWEDEN

The cause of the ongoing violence in the country is linked to a "struggle for dominance" between the group remotely controlled by Majid and other drug gangs.

The Swedish channel SVT Nyheter, citing various independent sources, had reported that "Foxtrot group leader Rawa Majid was arrested on the Iranian border."

In the country, Rawa Majid, known as the "Kurdish Fox," is accused by the Swedish police of leading a major criminal gang. It is alleged that 37-year-old Majid, who has lived in Turkey and the Kurdistan Region for years, manages his gang from these locations.

Some sources speaking to the Rûdaw team had said that Rawa Majid was arrested in the Qaladiza district of Sulaymaniyah, on the Rojhilat side of the border.

However, neither the police nor official institutions were able to confirm the accuracy of the news.

Rawa Majid, or by his other name the "Kurdish Fox," is internationally wanted for murder plots and, in particular, serious drug crimes in the country.

Swedish media state that the wave of violence in the country is spreading due to clashes between the group led by Rawa Majid and a drug network led by another Greek citizen.

It is claimed that Majid left Sweden in 2018 and came to the Kurdistan Region, and has been conducting his operations and drug trafficking from there.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Rawa Majid, an Iraqi Kurd, is one of the names held responsible for inter-gang violence in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, as well as in Uppsala and Husby, as the leader of a drug trafficking gang. The 36-year-old Majid, whom the Swedish press refers to as the 'Kurdish Fox', has a connection to Turkey stemming from his acquisition of citizenship.

The information that Majid had obtained Turkish citizenship under the name "Miran Othman" was revealed in Marmaris on April 15, 2022. When a municipal worker found a bag containing 12 thousand dollars left on a park bench and applied to the police, a person named "Miran Othman" was called to the police station based on camera footage.

During the investigation conducted due to his suspicious behavior, it was determined that Othman was wanted by Sweden with a red notice for the crime of drug trafficking, and an operation was carried out on the villa where he resided. An air pistol, two unlicensed firearms, numerous cartridges and magazines, and an ID card issued in the name of 'Rawa Majid' were found at the address. Othman was arrested. However, he was released despite being a drug trafficker with a red notice whom Sweden wanted extradited.

Afterward, it was revealed that Rawa Majid had first gone to Iraq, changed his name to 'Miran Othman', and obtained Turkish citizenship under that name by purchasing a villa in Bodrum for 400 thousand dollars. Swedish authorities also announced that Rawa Majid was not extradited to Sweden on the grounds that he was a Turkish citizen.

Rawa Majid's name also came to the agenda after the clash in September 2023. BirGün columnist Timur Soykan wrote that the target of the attack at the ‘Ağaoğlu Maslak 1453’ complex was Rawa Majid, asking, "Is Rawa Majid, whose criminal record has been revealed, still a citizen? Who is protecting the baron?"
