Mother of Mervegül Bayer, murdered by her ex-husband, burns her daughter's wedding dress

Police officer Mustafa Yıldır (41), who served at the Protection Branch of the Mersin Police Department, intercepted his ex-wife Mervegül Bayer (31), whom he had divorced 1 year ago, as she was going to work in the morning.

After talking for a while, an argument broke out between Yıldır and Bayer. As the argument escalated, Mustafa Yıldır shot his ex-wife Mervegül Bayer in the head with his service pistol. Yıldır then committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.

Bystanders who heard the incident reported the situation to the police and medical teams. Following the initial intervention by the 112 Emergency teams that arrived at the scene, Bayer lost her life on the way to the hospital.
