Mother who lost her child reacts to Zehra Kınık verdict: It is unclear how much time she will spend inside

A verdict was reached yesterday in the trial of Fatma Zehra Kınık Demir, the daughter of former Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) President Kerem Kınık, who was criticized for selling tents during the February 6 earthquakes and was forced to resign from his post as a result.

Fatma Zehra Kınık Demir, who was tried at the Istanbul Anatolian 8th High Criminal Court for causing the death of 17-year-old Batın Barlasçeki and injuring three others on July 9, 2024, was sentenced to only 4 years and 2 months in prison.

"IT IS UNCLEAR HOW MUCH OF THE SENTENCE SHE WILL SPEND INSIDE"

Batın Barlasçeki's mother, Hasret Doğan, reacted to the verdict in a statement on her social media account.

Doğan used the following expressions:

“My son will not be in this world forever. I will never be able to smell his sweet scent or kiss him again.

We will never be able to sit at the same table again. This woman even killed the most beautiful thing I could be in this life, my 'motherhood'.

I will remain incomplete for a lifetime without my son, always missing something... Look, there is not even any consolation for this!

How could there be any compensation! Zehra Kınık, who caused such great pain, a pain that will last a 'lifetime', has still not been arrested. 

It is not even clear how much of the given sentence she will spend inside. 

And while I am living through this pain, this woman will spend time with her family at home, including during the appeal period. Perhaps she will drive around again and enjoy her day. 

What kind of justice is this? While this cannot even be the price of a single drop of tear I shed, what kind of justice is this! May your judiciary and your justice both sink to the bottom of the earth! I hope divine justice finds you, so you understand what it is like to cry out for justice. There is no need for further words because you do not care anyway. Because the child is not your child!”
