MSB statement on 'İncirlik' and 'Kürecik': New name announced

MSB statement on 'İncirlik' and 'Kürecik': New name announced

A weekly briefing meeting was held at the Ministry of National Defense.

New decisions regarding the İncirlik Base drew attention during the meeting.

The highlights from the meeting are as follows:

  • A Confidence-Building Measures (CBM) meeting with the participation of delegations from Greece and Turkey will be held in Athens on Monday, April 22.
  • Including northern Iraq and Syria, 75 terrorists have been neutralized in the last two weeks. Thus, the number of terrorists neutralized since January 1, 2024, has reached 748, with 331 in northern Iraq and 417 in northern Syria.
  • In the last two weeks, 373 individuals attempting to cross illegally, including 11 members of terrorist organizations, have been apprehended, while 4,784 individuals were prevented from crossing the border.
  • Furthermore, one more PKK terrorist who escaped from shelters in northern Iraq surrendered to our border outpost in Habur on April 4. Additionally, approximately 45 kilograms of narcotics and 7 pistols were seized in operations conducted over the last two weeks.

İNCİRLİK DECISION

The Ministry of National Defense also changed the name of the 10th Tanker Base Command located in Adana/İncirlik to the '10th Main Jet Base Command.'

KÜRECİK STATEMENT

Regarding claims that information about attempted attacks against Israel was shared with Israel from the Kürecik Radar Base, the Ministry of National Defense stated the following:

"There is no question of sharing information obtained from the Kürecik radar with countries that are not NATO allies."
