Mücahit Birinci points to the results of the Hungarian elections: The country most similar to Turkey

As the era of Orban, who received support from Trump and Netanyahu for his election, comes to an end in Hungary, new beginnings and significant steps will be taken in the country with the departure of the long-serving leader.

Mücahit Birinci also examined the similarities in governance between the two countries in a post made before the election results were finalized, and made references to the AKP government through Orban.

Here is Birinci's assessment:

If you recall, in the previous Hungarian general elections in 2022, a broad opposition alliance was formed, but despite this, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán won the election. This result rightly caused a great stir in Turkey as well.

The upcoming elections will likely make a similar impact.

To be frank, there is no need to beat around the bush on this matter. Hungary is one of the countries within the European Union that most resembles Turkey in terms of political structure and management style. In particular, the fact that Viktor Orbán has been in power for many years has created similar dynamics in many respects.

For this reason, the election results must be analyzed carefully. If the opposition wins by a margin of 5 points or more, this margin must be read correctly and evaluated well.

The general conclusions are as follows:

•It is seen that a political approach that clearly stands on the same line as Donald Trump can pose a risk in the eyes of the voters.

•Governments that show a tendency toward authoritarianism and ignore the expectations of large segments of society may lose support over time.

•The basic expectation of the new generation is change; a political understanding that ignores this expectation will be left behind.

•The approach of "the leader will find a solution anyway" is weakening in voter behavior.

The following points are of critical importance:

•In economic processes, all energy should be directed toward domestic policy and economic improvement two years before the election.

•Policies that encompass the entire society, are economy-focused, produce concrete results, and can communicate this effectively must be followed.

•In addition to what has been done, it is of great importance that what will be done is expressed clearly and convincingly.

However, my personal observation is this:

The impact of rhetoric produced through defense policies and regional crises on domestic politics is now limited.

The society's expectation is clearer:

A transition to a more predictable, less stressful management approach with urgent economic regulations.

Once this is achieved, it will already be possible to take firmer and more decisive steps in foreign policy.

In conclusion;

A friend speaks the bitter truth. It is essential to pull ourselves together and take the necessary steps while there is still time.

Viewed from this perspective, the Hungarian elections are a critical example that must be followed carefully in every respect.
