WHAT HAPPENED?
CHP Spokesperson Zeynel Emre claimed in a statement on September 26 that Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya had withdrawn 1 billion 344 million TL from her Özata Denizcilik shares, in which she had invested approximately 63.4 million TL, and that her husband, İlyas Kaya, had withdrawn 826 million TL from his investment of approximately 99.7 million TL. It was alleged that the couple had thus withdrawn a total of 2.17 billion TL in return for an investment of approximately 163 million TL.
CMB INVESTIGATION ON THE AGENDA
It was also alleged that the Capital Markets Board (CMB) had expanded its investigation into the Kaya couple due to their transactions in Özata Denizcilik shares and was preparing a criminal complaint under Article 106 of the Capital Markets Law No. 6362.
In its decision dated September 25, the CMB decided to file a criminal complaint against 11 individuals due to transactions in the Özata Denizcilik equity market. The Kaya couple was not included in this list.
Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya had requested to be 'relieved' of her duties following the allegations against her.
