Muharrem İnce's 'private school' reaction to Minister Tekin: By romanticizing Imam Hatip...

It has been alleged that Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin sends his middle school-aged child not to a public school, but to a private college in Ankara known for its facilities.

Tekin's daughter began the eighth grade this year. There are approximately 25 students in the college's middle school classes.

CO-EDUCATION MODEL PREFERRED

In a statement made in June regarding the Imam Hatip model, Minister Tekin said, "I am saying, why don't we turn this into a brand? I think we can share this model with countries that want to provide both positive and religious education, that is, Imam Hatip-style education, in the world."

It is stated that the private school Tekin's daughter attends does not provide religion-weighted education and practices co-education.

İNCE'S REACTION TO PRIVATE SCHOOL

Muharrem İnce, formerly of the CHP, criticized Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin for choosing a private school for his child in a statement made via his social media account with the following words:

"We are not going to play politics over children. However, we have to question the Minister who manages education for not trusting public schools and sending his child to a private school. If the honorable Minister, who directs the nation's children to Imam Hatips by romanticizing them, sends his own child to a private school, he is not sincere.

Our concern is neither that child nor private schools. Our concern is to raise the quality of education in public schools. This is the Minister's duty and what he must do; if he cannot do this, he should vacate that office."
