Muhittin Böcek responds to allegations from prison: 'If I paid a single penny, I am dishonorable'

In his letter, Muhittin Böcek stated, “I have gone through the candidacy process 6 times; if I paid a single penny for candidacy, I am dishonorable. But those who write, draw, and provide false information to you, to our Minister Mr. Akın Gürlek, and to the public, including on social media, in order to slander and smear me, are base, dishonorable, and unscrupulous if they cannot prove it.”

Beginning his letter with the heading 'For Public Information', Muhittin Böcek wrote, “I am writing these lines to make heard the voice of my honorable struggle, which I have been silently conducting for 9 months within the four walls where I am detained. Our politicians discuss the reliability of the law in our country every day, and I am trying to maintain my faith in justice. My commitment has turned into not only a legal but also a vital issue. I have been hospitalized 10 times. I am trying to stay on my feet as my medication count has increased from 12 to 22,” he said.

IT IS POLITICAL RHETORIC

Muhittin Böcek said, “The rhetoric between my Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel and our Minister of Justice Mr. Akın Gürlek is political. However, I was very saddened that the Minister said there are allegations regarding Muhittin Böcek. I appeared in court on March 16-18. I answered the allegations against me one by one and refuted them. My forehead is clear, my head is held high. IF I PAID A SINGLE PENNY, I AM DISHONORABLE

Muhittin Böcek stated, “I have gone through the candidacy process 6 times; if I paid a single penny for candidacy, I am dishonorable. But those who write, draw, and provide false information to you, to our Minister Mr. Akın Gürlek, and to the public, including on social media, in order to slander and smear me, are base, dishonorable, and unscrupulous if they cannot prove it. Due to my duty, I went to 40 provinces. My state's police, my 3 bodyguards, and my very experienced drivers, my colleagues, my chief advisor; they are all precious to me. They were taken away suddenly and detained based on nothing but slander. My heart aches; they have children, some have mothers or family members who are ill. It is a pity, it is a sin, there is divine justice. Their only crime is rushing to earthquake zones, flood disaster areas, and fire zones with their Mayor 24/7 to help. My police brother and the team have official duty assignments for Manisa. I have never had any shady business throughout my life. During my Covid process, they kept watch at my door in intensive care,” he said.

Muhittin Böcek concluded his letter by saying, “Sometimes a person falls silent and there is only one question echoing inside; ‘Why?’ One looks at the sky and turns to one's heart, ‘Oh my God, why this burden? What did I do to deserve this?’ Then we remember that these experiences are a test. But it is a test not only for me, but for all of us. There is no rebellion! Because we know that our Lord is just. No effort, no sweat of the brow goes unrewarded. With my state discipline as always, with my faith and commitment to the state and justice, with my style, our courtesy and stance, and with the awareness that I am the ‘Mayor of Everyone,’ I extend my deep love and respect to my fellow citizens to whom I have dedicated half my life and who supported me in receiving my certificate of election 6 times. With hope and longing.”
