Multiple arrest orders in fresh fruit and vegetable investigation: Company executives had been detained

As part of the investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into exorbitant pricing practices in the fresh fruit and vegetable market, warrants were issued to the Competition Authority, the Ministry of Trade, and the wholesale market directorates of the metropolitan municipalities of Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Mersin, and Antalya.

Reports containing the transaction volumes of the suspects in the fresh fruit and vegetable trade were added to the file.

In the study conducted by the Tax Inspection Board based on the warrant, the statements of 1029 farmers were taken.

40 DISTRIBUTOR COMPANY EXECUTIVES DETAINED

Following the examinations, detention orders were issued for 41 suspects in the position of suppliers who were determined to have caused exorbitant pricing in the fresh fruit and vegetable sector. Searches were conducted at 109 addresses, including workplaces and homes, across 22 provinces. 40 distributor company executives were detained in an operation organized by the teams of the Istanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Branch.

SUSPECTS ARRESTED

The 40 suspects, whose procedures at the police station were completed, were referred to the Istanbul Courthouse.

Following their statements at the prosecutor's office, all 40 suspects were referred to the criminal judgeship of peace with a request for arrest and were sent to prison. It was learned that one suspect, for whom a detention order had been issued, is still being sought.
