The decision to exhume the grave of Cem Garipoğlu, who shook Turkey with the murder of Münevver Karabulut, has caused a wide stir in public opinion. Cem Garipoğlu, who brutally murdered high school student Münevver Karabulut in 2009 and was sought as a fugitive for a long time after the murder, committed suicide in prison in 2014. Discussions regarding Garipoğlu's death and his grave have returned to the agenda after many years.

Following Garipoğlu's suicide, various conspiracy theories were put forward regarding his death. Some segments claimed that Garipoğlu had escaped and that his death was faked, and these claims resonated widely on social media.

Regarding the incident, which has remained on Turkey's agenda, it was recently announced that the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had issued a decision for the exhumation of the grave.

While the matter remains a hot topic, Rezan Epözdemir, the lawyer for Münevver Karabulut's family, made statements to 12punto regarding the issue.

Stating that Cem Garipoğlu's grave will be opened within 3 days, Epözdemir said, "The grave of Garipoğlu will be opened by the end of business hours on Monday."

'WE ARE WAITING FOR JUSTICE TO BE SERVED'

When asked why this application was accepted, given that the previous request for exhumation had been rejected, Epözdemir made the following statement:

"New documents and evidence have emerged. The bloody sofa, other searches made on the internet, the sharing of the saw, the faucet, the celebrations held on March 3, and new autopsy images were effective in this decision being taken."

Epözdemir concluded his remarks by stating that they expect the material truth to emerge and justice to be served after the grave is opened.
