Municipality and DİSK reach agreement: İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay makes a statement

Following the strike initiated by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality workers, an agreement has been reached between the municipality and DİSK.
After the agreement, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay made evaluations regarding the matter.
In his statement, Cemil Tugay said, "We have no anger; after reaching an agreement, we will continue to serve the people of İzmir from where we left off. I have always respected the struggles and strike rights of the employees. Such a stance cannot exist within the Republican People's Party anyway."
It was stated that with this agreement, municipal services will continue without interruption.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
23 thousand workers employed at the İZELMAN, İZENERJİ, and Egeşehir companies affiliated with the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality had gone on strike after failing to reach an agreement on the collective bargaining contract. DİSK had rejected the municipality's offers of 59 thousand and 65 thousand liras, and had announced their demands as 82 thousand liras.
