Murat Ağırel responds sharply to Melih Gökçek's 'lie' claim: 'Don't argue with me, argue with the document'

Journalist Murat Ağırel has issued a new statement after Melih Gökçek characterized the reports he made about him as "lies."

Ağırel emphasized that the information he presented was not based on any gossip, tips, or social media posts, stating that the documents are contained within a court file.

In his statement, Ağırel specified that the file in question is Civil Case File No. 2019/236.

Stating that the name "İbrahim Melih Gökçek" clearly appears in the real estate inquiry dated November 22, 2019, found in the court file, Ağırel noted that the source of the document is the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre Information System.

Ağırel used the following expressions in his post:

"The document is in the court file. The real estate inquiry dated November 22, 2019, in the file clearly says 'İbrahim Melih Gökçek'. The source of the document is also clearly stated at the bottom: 'Obtained electronically from the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre Information System.'"

"I did not perform a land registry inquiry today"

Murat Ağırel specifically underlined that he did not perform any land registry inquiry on behalf of Melih Gökçek today, noting that he does not have such authority.

Stating that the document in question was brought to the file by the court from the relevant institutions within the scope of the lawsuit between Gürcan Dağdaş and Melih Gökçek, Ağırel expressed that he simply shared the official document found in the court file with the public.

Ağırel also drew attention to the fact that the records he included in his report belong to a specific date.

Stating that the inquiry date of the document is November 22, 2019, Ağırel mentioned that sales, transfers, or other legal transactions regarding the properties might have taken place after this date, but it is not possible to understand these from the document in question.

Ağırel said, "I am publishing whatever appears in the official inquiry records that entered the court file on November 22, 2019" .

He announced that he redacted personal information

Stating that he specifically redacted the Turkish ID number and other personal information in the documents he published, Ağırel expressed that the subject of the report is not personal information, but the real estate records found in the court file.
