Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, who was arrested and sent to prison on March 23 as part of an investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), has been taken into surgery due to a mass in his neck area.
Çalık’s mother, Gülseren Çalık, expressed her concern in a statement to Sözcü TV, saying, “He has gone into surgery. I have entrusted him to the angels. What else can I say, I have no strength left to speak.”
WHAT HAPPENED?
Mehmet Murat Çalık was transferred to Katip Çelebi Training and Research Hospital in Karabağlar, İzmir, on January 8. There, evaluations regarding the biopsy process were conducted with doctors.
Çalık, who has previously received cancer treatment twice, was operated on for suspected lymphoma while in custody, subsequently underwent an angiography procedure, and had two bone biopsies performed.
