Murat Kurum announces the balance sheet: Heavy damage in the earthquake zone

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum announced that damage assessment studies regarding the 6.1-magnitude Sındırgı earthquake have been completed. As a result of the inspections conducted following the earthquake, it was announced that 1,036 independent units in 729 buildings in Balıkesir and Manisa are heavily damaged or destroyed.
DAMAGE ASSESSMENT STUDIES COMPLETED
In a statement on his X account, Minister Kurum said, "As of yesterday, we have completed our damage assessment studies following the 6.1-magnitude earthquake that occurred in Sındırgı, Balıkesir." Stating that damage assessment scans of all houses in Sındırgı have been conducted, Kurum indicated that according to the data obtained, significant damage has occurred.
According to the information provided by Kurum, while 901 independent units in 624 buildings in Balıkesir sustained heavy damage, it was determined that 135 independent units in 105 buildings in Manisa were similarly damaged. In total, it was stated that 1,036 independent units in 729 buildings were either heavily damaged or completely destroyed.
DEMOLITION OF HEAVILY DAMAGED STRUCTURES WILL PROCEED RAPIDLY
Minister Kurum announced that the demolition process for heavily damaged structures will be initiated without delay. He also announced that construction activities will begin rapidly. It was noted that in the first phase, 100 houses planned to be built by TOKİ in Sındırgı will be completed and delivered to their rightful owners in May.
TOKİ TO BUILD 100 HOUSES IN THE FIRST PHASE
The first phase of the new housing projects to be initiated by TOKİ for earthquake victims in Sındırgı will begin with the construction of 100 houses.
