Murat Ongun responds to allegations against Medya AŞ as an 'apparatus company': 'They are trying to intimidate us'

Ongun made a statement on his social media account regarding the allegations against Medya AŞ. Stating that Medya AŞ was a structure that transferred resources to private companies during the previous administration, Ongun noted that it currently operates with a focus on transparency and public benefit.

Emphasizing that Medya AŞ has become one of the most successful subsidiaries of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) today, Ongun said, "Medya AŞ has brought transparency to the IMM administration with its live broadcasts, has clearly shared with Istanbulites where Istanbul's budget is spent through the news it produces every day, and has become a successful public subsidiary that produces solidarity projects that have set an example for the world."

Stating that the company is being targeted by groups that are unsuccessful in the field of communication, Ongun criticized them, saying, "Those who are incompetent at communication and propaganda despite having a massive media power, tens of thousands of social media accounts, public power, and all that money spent, are now trying to intimidate us with different methods."

Thanking all his colleagues who contributed to the success of Medya AŞ, Ongun stated that the company will continue to serve the public interest.

"A group of pro-government pundits and social media charlatans are engaged in an intense smear campaign against Medya AŞ, of which I am the Chairman of the Board. Because in their time, Medya AŞ was just an apparatus company that transferred money to the series and films of private companies. For example, in 2018, Medya AŞ, which had a budget of 92 million liras, transferred 12 million 750 thousand liras to a series made by a private company. Almost 1/7th of its budget.

This was just the tip of the iceberg. We went to court for the others, but we returned empty-handed for known reasons. Today, Medya AŞ is one of the favorite and successful companies of the IMM with what it produces and the value it creates.

Medya AŞ has brought transparency to the IMM administration with its live broadcasts, has clearly shared with Istanbulites where Istanbul's budget is spent through the news it produces every day, and has become a successful public subsidiary that produces solidarity projects that have set an example for the world.

Their actions have clearly annoyed rival groups that cannot perform sufficiently in the field of communication. Otherwise, such an attack would not have been organized against this company, which has the 2nd lowest budget among 30 subsidiary companies of the IMM. Those who are incompetent at communication and propaganda despite having a massive media power, tens of thousands of social media accounts, public power, and all that money spent, are now trying to intimidate us with different methods. We present this to our nation.
