Murat Ongun says 'I am presenting evidence' and reacts to the Beyoğlu Municipality operation: Why did you turn a blind eye?

44 people, including Beyoğlu Mayor İnan Güney, have been detained.

One of those detained is İbrahim Can Yaman, the brother-in-law of Murat Ongun, who is an advisor to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor and Chairman of the Board of Medya A.Ş. Regarding his detained brother-in-law Can Yaman, Ongun said, "He went abroad on August 7 and returned to the country on August 11.

If there was an investigation against him, why did you turn a blind eye to him going abroad just a week ago?" he said.

Following the detention of 44 people, including Beyoğlu Mayor İnan Güney, İBB Mayor Advisor and Medya A.Ş. Chairman of the Board Murat Ongun made another post on his social media account.

The following was stated in the post made under the title "I Am Presenting Evidence":

"I am presenting evidence

Can Yaman, whom you detained from my home this morning;

Went abroad on August 7 and returned to the country on August 11.

If there was an investigation against him, why did you turn a blind eye to him going abroad just a week ago?

If there was an investigation against him, why did you not detain him upon his return from abroad?

What truth that you did not know in 5 months did you reach in 5 days? What crime did he commit in the last 5 days?

You are obliged to provide documented/proven answers to these questions. If someone under investigation went abroad a few days ago, we expect you to document the crime (!) he committed upon his return."

Following the detentions that took place in the morning, a post had been made on the social media account of İBB Mayor Advisor and Medya A.Ş. Chairman of the Board Murat Ongun. In the post, which stated that Ongun's brother-in-law İbrahim Can Yaman was among those detained, it was said, ''My home was raided for the 3rd time. At dawn, the police came to our home for the 3rd time to conduct a search and detention. This time they took my dear brother-in-law and left. The attitude maintained against my family and me has exceeded the dimension of persecution and turned into a unique use of force. 'Strong evidence of crime' has been replaced by a 'strong oath of revenge.' Common sense and impartiality have disappeared. It has reached a point where there is nothing left to say other than 'May God grant reason and conscience'.''
