Murat Ülker weighs in on boycott debates: 'The brand is always in the same place'
The inclusion of Ülker in the boycott list announced by the CHP created a stir, while the brand's removal from the list shortly after fueled further debate. Yıldız Holding Board Member Murat Ülker reacted to the situation, stating, 'The brand is always in the same place.'
The boycott list announced by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, which includes media organizations, companies, and products, has caused a major stir. However, the removal of some brands from the list shortly after their inclusion has sparked further debate. One of these brands was Ülker. While the addition and subsequent removal of Ülker from the list drew significant public attention, Yıldız Holding Board Member Murat Ülker reacted to the development with an angry face emoji.
A NOTABLE REACTION FROM MURAT ÜLKER
Ekonomim newspaper columnist Vahap Munyar shared the messages Murat Ülker sent him regarding the matter in his column today. Munyar stated that Ülker had sent him a message containing only an "angry face" emoji at 11:02 PM the previous night, and recounted the dialogue between them as follows:
"I was curious and asked: 'Mr. Murat, what is going on? What is the reason for your anger toward me?' Two or three minutes after asking this question, I saw the list of companies, products, and media organizations to be boycotted in the speech CHP Chairman Özgür Özel gave in Saraçhane. Ülker was also on the list. Upon this, I wrote again: 'Ülker's name is mentioned in the CHP's boycott list. Is the angry emoji you sent me a reaction to your brand being included in this list?'"
''THE BRAND IS ALWAYS IN THE SAME PLACE''
Murat Ülker sent a detailed message to Munyar the next morning at 6:34 AM to clarify the issue. Stating that Ülker had been removed from the CHP's boycott list, Ülker also attached some social media posts regarding the process. Emphasizing that the Ülker brand has been targeted by different segments over the years, he used the following expressions:
"In the past, the secular segment was reacting to Ülker. Then, during the April 1st incident, the conservative segment reacted. Now, the secular segment is reacting again. Yet, the brand is always in the same place."
