Murder in İzmir straight out of an action movie

The incident occurred around 05:00 in Hürriyet Neighborhood, 489/1 Street. According to the information obtained, a car with license plate 35 TT 762, driven by Ç.H.K. (19), entered the street. Ç.H.K. and Bedirhan Akıncı, who were inside the car, attempted to steal two parked motorcycles.

The owners of the motorcycles, C.Y. (21) and M.Y. (29), noticed the situation and came outside. Upon seeing the motorcycle owners, the theft suspects got into their car to flee, while one of the motorcycle owners fired consecutive shots at the back of the vehicle with a handgun he was carrying. Four bullets hit the car, and one of them struck Bedirhan Akıncı, who was a passenger in the vehicle, in the head. The car, having lost control due to the gunfire, crashed into three vehicles on the street.

DETAINED UPON SEEING BLOOD ON HIM

Upon notification, numerous police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Checks by medical teams determined that Bedirhan Akıncı, who was in the car and had been struck in the head by a bullet, had lost his life. After the incident, Ç.H.K., who had gotten out of the car and fled, returned after a while and claimed that Bedirhan Akıncı had stolen his phone, that he was a tattoo artist, and that he had come to retrieve his phone. Police teams detained Ç.H.K. upon seeing blood on him.

MOTORCYCLE OWNERS ALSO IN CUSTODY

As a result of the work carried out by police teams, the owners of the motorcycles that were targeted for theft, C.Y. (21) and M.Y. (29), were taken into custody. It was learned that who fired the handgun will be determined following statements at the police station.

On the other hand, it was learned that a handgun and a pump-action shotgun were found during a search of C.Y. and M.Y.'s home.

Following the incident, teams from the Crime Scene Investigation Branch Directorate conducted examinations on the vehicle and the street. The body of Bedirhan Akıncı, who lost his life in the incident, was taken to the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue after an examination by the prosecutor. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
