Müsavat Dervişoğlu reacts to Öcalan's 'February 27' statement: 'It only binds his own militants'

İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu answered questions from journalists at his party's annex building regarding the new message from Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, on the first anniversary of his 'Call for Peace and Democratic Society' made on February 27, 2025. 

In response to the question, "There were notable expressions in the statement made by the DEM Party today. There were some statements regarding the expression 'democratic integration' and the desire to change the definition of citizenship. What would you say?", Dervişoğlu replied:

"IT ONLY BINDS HIS OWN MILITANTS"

"On the anniversary of the February 27 call, they shared Abdullah Öcalan's statement with the public and, as if poking a finger in the nation's eye, had a criminal read a text. From our perspective, Abdullah Öcalan is the leader of a terrorist organization that is an enemy of Turkey. Therefore, his statement directly binds only his own militants.

The Turkish nation and the Republic of Turkey have no lessons to learn from him. If we cared about what he said, we would have participated as the İYİ Party in the commission established at his call. Therefore, from our perspective, his expressions are null and void; I do not even feel the need to evaluate them. Furthermore, he thanked some people in his statement. The fact that my name and my party's name are not among those thanked is, from our perspective, an indication that our political report card is excellent from top to bottom."
