Müsavat Dervişoğlu's November 10 call to Erdoğan

İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu made statements regarding the current agenda while in Balıkesir for his party's 4th Ordinary Provincial Congress.

Dervişoğlu reacted sharply to the controversy that began following the Kocaeli Mufti's Office's instruction sent to district mufti offices as part of the November 10 Atatürk Commemoration Day, which stated, "I request information and necessary action regarding the recitation of the Mevlid-i Şerif in all our mosques on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 12:30 PM." 

“THERE ARE THOSE ATTEMPTING TO BAN THE FATIHA IN THE REPUBLIC'S MOSQUES”

In his speech, Dervişoğlu reacted by saying, "A governor in Kocaeli emerges and says, 'November 10 is the 87th anniversary of the passing of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of our Republic. Therefore, the Mevlid-i Şerif will be recited and the Quran will be read for the soul of Mustafa Kemal in the mosques of Kocaeli.' Immediately, a segment rises up and says, 'The mosques are ours, you cannot have a Fatiha recited for Him in our mosques.' Can you imagine? There is a group of traitors in this Turkey who are attempting to ban the recitation of the Fatiha for Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in the Republic's mosques on the death anniversary of the man who founded the Republic."

NOVEMBER 10 CALL TO ERDOĞAN

Continuing his speech, Dervişoğlu issued a call to AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, stating, "I invite President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to recite the Quran for the soul of Atatürk."

He then continued his words as follows:

“The person currently sitting in Mustafa Kemal's seat is the President of this country, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The insult is directed at his seat. While Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is being insulted, a great duty and responsibility also falls upon the President of the Republic of Turkey. I know well how proficient Mr. President is in recitation and how beautifully he reads the Quran according to its rules. I will be at the Hacı Bayram Mosque before the afternoon prayer while this nation is reciting prayers for Mustafa Kemal. I invite President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to recite the Quran for the soul of Atatürk."
