Müsavat Dervişoğlu's 'absolute nullity' comment: 'We do not just dismiss the appointment of a trustee to the CHP as a judicial decision'

İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu made statements regarding the current agenda at his party's group meeting in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

Dervişoğlu delivered clear messages regarding the 'absolute nullity' crisis within the CHP.

Dervişoğlu stated, "We do not just dismiss the breaking down of doors to enter the CHP and the appointment of a trustee to its head as a judicial decision. I will never, under any circumstances, engage with those who have been appointed. Both the appointer and the appointee are absolute nullities; they are void. As the İYİ Party, our side is clear and known. We do not want a republic of trustees; we do not want a tutelary democracy."

Stating that these developments should not be viewed merely as an internal matter of the CHP, Dervişoğlu emphasized that what is happening is a reflection of a broader intervention aimed at shaping politics and democracy in Turkey.

"STATE MIND" DEBATES

Dervişoğlu also touched upon the "State Mind" debates that have recently come to the fore. Regarding the subject, he said, "A state does not have a 'deep' side. If they want a 'state mind' to be sought, it means there are those operating other agendas there, those marketing the calculations of other capitals as 'state mind.' It means there are those who seek privileges for themselves, their families, and their circles, and those who cannot get enough of consuming the rights of the people."

'WE DO NOT WANT A REPUBLIC OF TRUSTEES'

We have been following the events carefully from the very first day. We see that the point reached is not an internal matter of the CHP, but has been engineered from the beginning as a step in a larger quest regarding how politics will be shaped in Turkey.

We do not just dismiss the breaking down of doors to enter the CHP and the appointment of a trustee to its head as a judicial decision. Remember that the verdicts given on Yassıada were also judicial decisions, the pens broken by the '71 Memorandum were also judicial decisions; the parties closed after '80, the imprisonments, the lawsuits, the bans, the dungeons—they were all judicial decisions. The wounds they opened remain on our bodies and in our souls. As the İYİ Party, our side is clear and known. We do not want a republic of trustees; we do not want a tutelary democracy.

'THE FIRST TRUSTEE WAS APPOINTED TO THE MHP 10 YEARS AGO'

We all know that the 'solution process' that they tried to pass off to us as a state project, and the election strategy currently being pursued, are both parts of the ruling party's calculations. While 90 percent of the nation was against this process that accepted the terror convict Öcalan as a counterpart, the fairy tale of 'state mind' was brought to the agenda, and these discourses were continued despite the public. The first trustee was appointed to where it would be appointed 10 years ago. That trustee also attempted to appoint a trustee to the Kurds in the person of the terror convict Öcalan. Now it is the Republican People's Party's turn. Our stance against trusteeship, which ignores the state, the nation, and sovereignty, is uncompromising and clear. Both the appointer and the appointee are, in our view, absolute nullities! They are flawed! They are void! If there is anyone who wants to lean on them, let them come. Our side is the Republic and democracy; everyone is welcome.

'A STATE DOES NOT HAVE A DEEP SIDE'

One cannot be a state, nor remain a state, without law. Whatever honor and virtue mean for any individual of the nation, the rule of law is that for a state. What you call 'state mind' is the functioning of that rule of law. The person you call a statesman is the one who strives to operate that order with that mind, the one who considers this a matter of honor. No matter which state is in question, in the depths of that state, there is the nation, which is the true owner of that order. If you look a little deeper, you will see the common morality that brings that nation into existence. If you are looking for another depth beyond this, or if you think you have found one, or if you are deriving such a title for yourself, you will not find the mind of the nation there, but only the weaknesses of some. You will find abuses. You will find unfulfilled duties and poorly executed tasks. You will find those who pollute the secrets, powers, and privileges given to be used under certain conditions for the sake of the nation's common interests with arrogance, greed, and hatred. You will find cliques. You will find factionalism. You will find gang formations. You will find those who are uncomfortable with the rule of law being applied openly, equally, and honorably for everyone, on behalf of everyone. That is why I say: A state does not have a 'deep' side. A state has law. A state's mind is not in the depths and in the dark; it is visible in laws, in institutions, in obtaining the consent of the nation, and in being accountable to the nation. The more those who govern a state hide behind talk of 'depth,' the further that state has moved away from both reason and morality.

'DO NOT MARKET IT AS STATE MIND'

The more the word 'survival' (beka) is on the lips in a country, it means there are those who do not account for their actions, those who do not want to account for them, and those who cannot or do not want to leave the office they occupy. If they want a 'state mind' to be sought behind every arbitrary and suspicious act, it means there are those operating other agendas there, those marketing the calculations of other capitals as 'state mind.' It means there are those who seek privileges for themselves, their families, and their circles, and those who cannot get enough of consuming the rights of the people.
