Mustafa Destici lashes out at İmralı decision

The commission established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) as part of the second reconciliation process—which the government, architected by MHP leader Bahçeli, calls a "Turkey without terrorism"—has decided to visit İmralı. The CHP had announced before the commission's vote that it would not visit the terrorist leader.

While the commission's İmralı decision remains a hot topic on the agenda, Mustafa Destici, Chairman of the Great Unity Party (BBP), a partner in the People's Alliance, made statements regarding the matter.

"A PROPOSAL TO GO TO ÖCALAN"

Destici said, "Meeting with İmralı is a veiled and indirect expression. In reality and essence, this is a proposal to go to Öcalan himself."

"UNACCEPTABLE"

Destici continued his remarks as follows:

"This country does not accept the legalization and sympathizing of a terrorist leader who has betrayed its destiny for 40 years, founded the world's bloodiest organization, led it for 40 years, and bears the responsibility for all the crimes he has committed."
