Reacting to the situation, Üstündağ said:
"I am a citizen of the Republic of Turkey. Yesterday, as a citizen of the Republic of Turkey, I was very ashamed because I did not have any euros on me. Because I didn't know that Mersin had joined the Eurozone.
These are four tickets from the Ministry of Culture that have the euro symbol on them.

When I entered yesterday, Cennet–Cehennem was 435 liras. If you come back a week later, you might pay 550 liras.
Because they are charging in euros. Because our Ministry of Culture has transferred these places to a company called Sigma."
