Mysterious death of two siblings in an Izmir hotel: Ege's final footage emerges
Samples of the cake and canned fish eaten by two siblings, who were found dead in their hotel room in Izmir's Konak district and are suspected to have died from food poisoning, have been sent to the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry laboratory for analysis. Additionally, the final footage of 14-year-old Ege, one of the siblings found dead in the hotel, has emerged.
The incident occurred on June 22 at approximately 23:00 at a hotel located on 1296 Street in the Basmane neighborhood of Konak district.
According to the information obtained, the mother, Gönül Uğraş, who works as a florist, arrived at a hotel on Friday evening, June 21, to stay with her 4 children. After spending the night at the hotel with her children, the mother took 2 of her children with her yesterday morning to go to a pharmacy to get medicine and did not return to the hotel.
Her other two children, Ege (14) and Handan Uğraş (12), remained at the hotel. Later, around noon, Ege went down to the ground floor to use the shared restroom in the hotel and returned upstairs after a while.
At that time, the hotel receptionist, Z.Ö., went upstairs to check the rooms during the night shift. While checking the room where the Uğraş family was staying, the employee Z.Ö. found the two siblings, Ege and Handan, lying motionless on the bed.
Upon the notification of Z.Ö., health and police teams were dispatched to the scene. As a result of the examinations conducted by the health teams in the hotel room, it was determined that the two siblings had passed away. After the prosecutor's examination, the bodies of the two siblings were taken to the Izmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy.
Following the autopsy, the children's bodies were handed over to their relatives, and the deceased children were laid to rest in the Çırpı neighborhood of Bayındır, where the mother lives.
SUSPICION OF FOOD POISONING
The Izmir Public Security Branch Directorate teams, who launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident, took the statement of the mother, Gönül Uğraş. It was noted that in her statement, Uğraş said they checked into the room with her children the day before, bought and ate canned fish and store-bought cake from the nearby area, and that she went to Tepecik Training and Research Hospital in the morning because she felt unwell, and learned that her children had died when she returned to the hotel.
FINAL FOOTAGE EMERGES
On the other hand, the final footage of 14-year-old Ege Uğraş, one of the children found dead in the hotel room, has emerged. In the footage, it is seen that Ege Uğraş had difficulty walking while going to use the hotel's shared restroom.
LAST MEALS TO BE ANALYZED
It was learned that samples were taken from the cake and canned tuna the children last ate and were sent to the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry laboratory for analysis. The exact cause of death of the siblings Ege and Handan Uğraş will be clarified after the detailed autopsy report.
