Naci Görür expresses frustration on social media: 'Leave the faults alone'

Science Academy member Prof. Dr. Naci Görür has expressed his frustration with those reacting to comments made by earthquake experts following the earthquakes in Çanakkale.

Görür stated, "Just demand earthquake-resistant cities, that is the only solution. Leave the faults alone, who knew what, who said what..."

A 4.6 magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of Çanakkale in the Aegean Sea. Following the earthquake, Naci Görür responded to citizens who reacted to the comments made by experts by saying, "we are afraid."

Görür wrote the following on his social media account:

"A COMPLAINT: Yes, I am complaining. Not a day goes by without earthquakes, large or small. What are our people doing? They are blaming the people who interpret the earthquake and raise our awareness. The reason given is that they are afraid. They say earthquakes should not be discussed or mentioned. As if earthquakes won't happen if we don't talk about them. As if we didn't lose more than fifty thousand of our people just yesterday. You don't need to know much about earthquakes or faults. You don't need to use your unique intelligence to figure out how to survive an earthquake. With all your might, JUST DEMAND EARTHQUAKE-RESISTANT CITIES. The place to demand this and the door to the solution are the government and the municipalities. Let's achieve this through cooperation and unity, that is enough. This is the only solution.
