Naci Görür makes statement on the fault line to watch: After the Bitlis earthquake

According to data provided by AFAD, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Tatvan district of Bitlis today at 14:50.

The depth of the tremor was measured at 7 km, and the earthquake was also felt in surrounding provinces. Following the earthquake, eyes turned to seismologists.

Seismologist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür issued warnings regarding the earthquake on his social media account. Providing information about the region, Görür stated that attention should be paid to the Bitlis-Zagros fault line and its surroundings.

'WE HAD SAID WE EXPECTED AN EARTHQUAKE'

Görür used the following expressions in his post:

"A 4.7-magnitude earthquake occurred in Bitlis-Yumrukaya/Tatvan. We had previously stated that we expected an earthquake in these areas because, during the February 6 earthquakes, the Arabian plate was thrust northward, putting pressure on the Bitlis-Zagros line and the south of Lake Van. Pay attention to the Bitlis-Zagros line and its surroundings these days."
