Narin Güran murder: Minister Göktaş announces they will appeal Nevzat's sentence

Narin Güran murder: Minister Göktaş announces they will appeal Nevzat's sentence

The lifeless body of Narin Güran, who went missing on August 21 in the Tavşantepe neighborhood of Diyarbakır's central Bağlar district, was found in the Eğertutmaz Stream on September 8. As part of the investigation conducted by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 12 out of 23 detained suspects were arrested, including her mother Yüksel, brother Enes, uncle Salim Güran, and their neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar. The investigation into Yüksel, Enes, and Salim Güran, as well as Nevzat Bahtiyar, was completed, and the indictment prepared against the 4 defendants for "intentional killing of a child in complicity," seeking aggravated life imprisonment, was accepted by the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court on October 23.

SENTENCED FOR "DESTROYING, CONCEALING OR ALTERING EVIDENCE"

In the verdict hearing on December 28, mother Yüksel Güran, brother Enes Güran, and uncle Salim Güran, who were being tried while in custody, were sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of "intentional killing of a child in complicity," while Nevzat Bahtiyar was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of "destroying, concealing or altering evidence of a crime."

WE WILL APPEAL

Stating that they have been following Narin's case from the beginning, Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş said they are waiting for the reasoned decision. Minister Göktaş stated, "Following the reasoned decision, we will appeal the sentence given to Nevzat Bahtiyar."
