Nasuh Mahruki appears in court for the second time over social media post

The second hearing of the trial against former AKUT President Nasuh Mahruki, who was arrested on November 20 due to a post he made on social media, is underway. Mahruki arrived at the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan for the hearing.

A prison sentence of 1 to 3 years had been requested for Mahruki for the crime of 'publicly spreading misleading information'. While the indictment was accepted by the Istanbul 15th Criminal Court of First Instance, the duty High Criminal Court decided to release Mahruki following an objection to his detention status.

YSK POST

Mahruki is being tried due to a post he made on social media regarding the Supreme Election Council (YSK) during the election period. In the message in question, Nasuh Mahruki stated the following:

"Great Turkish nation, you must be very careful and vigilant. The government and the YSK are setting up a scheme to steal the elections one last time. The Chamber of Computer Engineers must have the authority to conduct audits on your behalf in an early Presidential election. If they are not audited, they will steal our votes, replace them with fake ones, and win the election illegally again. This would be the end of the Republic of Turkey, and this end would be more terrifying than even your worst nightmares."
