National Agency grants 500,419 euros in funding to religious sects: TÜGVA receives the lion's share

National Agency grants 500,419 euros in funding to religious sects: TÜGVA receives the lion's share

The National Agency has showered funding from its pool, created through EU resources and taxes, onto TÜGVA, TÜRGEV, Ensar, the Foundation for the Spread of Knowledge (İlim Yayma Cemiyeti), the Verenel Aid and Solidarity Association—which is affiliated with the Safa Foundation known for its ties to the Yahyalı branch of the Naqshbandi sect—the Safa Education, Aid and Solidarity Foundation affiliated with the Naqshbandi sect, and associations affiliated with the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation.

According to a report by T24, the largest amount of funding was received by TÜGVA, where Bilal Erdoğan and numerous figures close to the AKP serve on the High Advisory Board and Board of Directors. In total, 500,419 euros in funding was granted to foundations and associations affiliated with religious sects.

The funds, created through EU resources and taxes and opened by the National Agency under the heading of 'youth,' were granted to foundations and associations known for their proximity to the government and religious sects.

The foundations and associations that received the total of 500,419 euros in funding are as follows:

- 161,100 euros to TÜRGEV, where Bilal Erdoğan and Esra Albayrak are executives,

- 17,846 euros to the Safa Education, Aid and Solidarity Foundation, which is close to the Naqshbandi sect,

- 18,839 euros to the Earth Children Association (Yeryüzü Çocukları Derneği), which belongs to the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation,

- 54,744 euros to Ensar, which is remembered for the 2018 sexual abuse scandal,

- 36,950 euros to the Foundation for the Spread of Knowledge (İlim Yayma Cemiyeti),

- 45,265 euros to the Verenel Aid and Solidarity Association, which is affiliated with the Safa Foundation known for its ties to the Yahyalı branch of the Naqshbandi sect and which made headlines for signing a protocol with the Ministry of National Education (MEB),

- 114,150 euros to TÜGVA,

- 51,525 euros to the Orphans Association (Yetimler Derneği), which is affiliated with the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation.
