Natural gas exploration continues in the Black Sea! Minister announces

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar provided information regarding work in the energy sector during a program he attended on the Haber Türk channel.

Explaining that exploration and drilling activities are ongoing in the Black Sea, Bayraktar stated that natural gas production has reached 5 million cubic meters per day, meaning enough gas is being produced there to supply 2 million households.

Minister Bayraktar expressed that they plan to reach a production of 10 million cubic meters in the first quarter of 2025, and that thanks to new discoveries, they aim to meet all residential natural gas demand through domestic production by 2028.

Pointing out that field development activities are continuing in the Black Sea, Bayraktar continued as follows:

"The Sakarya Gas Field covers an area of approximately 10 thousand square kilometers. The part where we are currently producing covers 2 thousand 200 square kilometers. We have made discoveries in 25 percent of the total field and turned them into production. Exploration activities are continuing in the rest of the area. We have begun to fully understand the Sakarya Gas Field. There are discoveries, and we are conducting new drillings. Hopefully, we plan to give our nation the good news of a discovery from the region where Göktepe-1 and Göktepe-2 are located in July."

IT WILL ALSO BE SOLD TO OTHER COUNTRIES

Drawing attention to the fact that efforts to become a hub for natural gas are also continuing, Bayraktar said that under the new law, the country can now also sell its natural gas to other countries in liquefied form.

Emphasizing that significant progress has been made in oil production in the Gabar region, Bayraktar announced that a production level of 42 thousand 500 barrels per day has been reached across 37 wells.
