Natural gas statement from Minister Bayraktar: We will conduct a new study for the high-income group

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar made statements regarding electricity and natural gas bills.

In his statement on the matter, Minister Bayraktar used the following expressions:

"Starting from the pandemic process, since the period when the economy came to a halt, the state has supported households and businesses, and these supports continue.

'OUR STATE COVERS 60 PERCENT OF A 1,000 LIRA BILL'

We have significant support for electricity and natural gas. 60 percent of a 1,000 lira bill, meaning 600 lira, is covered by our state. We will continue these supports within the limits of budget possibilities. We will continue to protect our citizens. We need to structure support mechanisms correctly. There is support for the natural gas and electricity that we all use. We believe it would be more accurate to reflect costs based on actual expenses. We want those in need to benefit from the support. Hopefully, we will continue these supports in this period.

When we look at average consumption, there is a consumption of 200 kWh. Looking at the rate of 207 kuruş, it amounts to 415 lira. 60 percent of it is covered by the state. You are providing 3,000 lira in support to those who have much larger homes and receive an electricity bill of 5,000 lira.

NEW STUDY FOR HIGH-INCOME GROUP

We think it is more accurate to reflect prices based on actual costs to consumers who are in a high-income group and can bear the real cost. We will conduct a new study for the high-income group.

We aim to reach our target of 10 million cubic meters in the first quarter of 2025. With this, we will have met the needs of 4 million households.

A platform currently sailing in the Mediterranean is on its way. It will be in Turkey around September 26th. With that platform, we will double our production.”
