As the impact of the heavy rainfall continues in Istanbul, artist Nazan Öncel drew attention to the situation in her area through a post on her social media account.
Using the phrase “We are stranded” on her Instagram account, Öncel noted that a large number of people in the area were unable to move forward.
In her post, Öncel said, “There is a school up ahead. Children are stranded there. It is a disastrous situation. It is a serious case, really.”
The artist reported that Okyanus Koleji students were also stranded and that families were in a state of panic, stating, “AFAD has arrived, but all the roads surrendered to the flood are closed.”
While transportation disruptions occurred in some parts of the city due to the rainfall, Öncel’s post quickly became a trending topic on social media.
