New arrest warrant for Ayşe Barım

Talent manager Ayşe Barım, who has been in prison for over 8 months accused of "aiding in the attempt to overthrow the Government of the Republic of Turkey" on the grounds of being "one of the planners of the Gezi Park protests," appeared before the judge for the second time on Wednesday, October 1.

Numerous celebrities, including Halit Ergenç, Bergüzar Korel, Mehmet Günsür, and Rıza Kocaoğlu, were heard as witnesses.

In his statement at the hearing, whistleblower Sedat Gül said, "I did not participate in the Gezi events. I felt a responsibility to report it when I heard about the event on social media. I do not know her."

The celebrities heard as witnesses stated that Barım did not direct them to go to Gezi Park and that they had made their social media posts themselves.

Making her defense in tears during the hearing, Barım said, "I want to be tried without being detained now. I want you to grant me this fundamental right. I request my release so that I can regain my health as soon as possible."

Following the statements of the lawyers, the prosecutor requested the continuation of Barım's detention. On the 248th day of her detention, it was decided to release Ayşe Barım with judicial control in the form of a travel ban and house arrest.

NEW ARREST WARRANT ISSUED FOR BARIM

The decision regarding Barım was re-evaluated upon the prosecutor's objection.

The Istanbul 26th High Criminal Court rejected the prosecutor's application against the release decision and sent the file to the higher court, the 27th High Criminal Court.

The 27th High Criminal Court, which reviewed the file, found the objection justified and decided to re-arrest Barım.

According to the report in T24, at the time police officers went to the Vehbi Koç Foundation American Hospital in Nişantaşı under the prosecutor's instruction following the re-arrest warrant, Ayşe Barım was undergoing a brain MRI due to an aneurysm. Checks and treatment for heart disease had also been planned for Barım today (Friday).
