New arrests in the Newborn Gang investigation
11 of the 15 suspects detained as part of the Newborn Gang investigation have been arrested.
Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 16 suspects acting in concert with doctor Fırat Sarı, who is alleged to be the leader of an organized crime group accused of referring newborn emergency patients to the neonatal units of private hospitals they had pre-arranged, causing their deaths, and obtaining illicit gains, had been identified.
Teams from the Istanbul Financial Crimes Investigation Branch Office apprehended 14 suspects, including 5 doctors, 3 nurses, 5 healthcare workers, and 1 civilian, in an operation they conducted on December 4.
11 of the 15 detained suspects were referred to the on-duty criminal judgeship of peace with a request for arrest. An arrest warrant was issued for the 11 suspects.
